High Phase Order Induction Machine Drive
09 Mar 2016 16:15
prof. G. K. Singh
Department of Electrical Engineering
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
An HPO machine has many advantages over conventional three-phase machine such as :
(i)reduction in amplitude and increase in frequency of torque pulsation,
(ii)reduction in rotor harmonic currents(iii) reduction in current per phase without increasing the voltage per phase (iv) lower dc link current harmonics,
(v) capability to start and run with one or more of its many phases open or short-circuited (vi) higher reliability and increased power in the same frame.
The high phase order drive is likely to remain limited to specialized applications where high reliability is demanded such as electric /hybrid vehicles,
aerospace applications, ship propulsion.
The talk will touch upon the modelling and analysis of HPO machines under normal and fault conditions.
About the Institute
Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T.) - Roorkee is among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher technological education and in engineering, basic and applied research. Since its establishment, the Institute has played a vital role in providing the technical manpower and know-how to the country in the field of science and engineering.
