Net-Zero Energy and Energy-Plus Buildings: A Swiss Overview

Abstract:
The Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory (LESO-PB) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) has been involved in research and development of energy efficient and solar technologies for the built environment over 30 years (http://leso.epfl.ch). By combining the most recent outcomes of building and urban physics, it contributed to the erection in the dense Swiss city of Basle of the first Energy-Plus building located in an urban site (e.g. generating more heat from renewables than required for the building operation). A critical overview of recent Swiss building constructions leading to Net-Zero Energy and Energy-Plus buildings will be presented in this lecture.
