Global and regional challenges to Czech energy security

Are you interested in the field of energy security? Do you want to understand crisis management related to energy infrastructure? Do you want to know what drives the energy policies of Central European governments and industry? Are you curious about how global energy prices and China?s escalating energy demand impact on the Czech Republic and our neighbors?

This one-week intensive course organized by the Prague Security Studies Institute and Masaryk University in Brno will offer you a unique opportunity to learn more about regional and global challenges to Czech energy security.

The course will take place in Prague from February 25th to March 1st, 2013.

Lectures will focus on subjects, including energy sources and infrastructure, new energy players on both the demand and supply sides of the market, the energy policies of Central European countries and future scenarios for achieving greater energy independence.

All lecturers are well-known scholars, policy practitioners and industry players both from the Czech Republic and abroad.

The fee will be 1500,-CZK.

Working languages of the course will be Czech and English.

To apply, please send us your CV and a short essay (in English, 500 - 600 words) on one of the following topics:

What are the major challenges to Czech energy security?
How will major energy producers, such as the US, and large energy consumers, like China and India, impact on the future energy market?
Which entities should be responsible for energy security? National governments? the EU? NATO?
