Governance principles of benchmark universities

The rise of non-anglosaxon universities in the various world university rankings illustrates how the knowledge und the capacity successfully to govern a modern university has become widespread. In the push to achieve internationally recognized high status, ETH Zurich investigated the governance of leading US universities, private and public, to help forge its strategy.
The governance principles which led us in structuring our push to international status and in improving it continually will be explained and illustrated by example.
