Letní fyzikální čtvrtek: Dr. Miriam Unger - CHEMICAL IDENTIFICATION IN THE NANOSCALE

21 Jun 2018   15:00-16:30

CHEMICAL IDENTIFICATION IN THE NANOSCALE – WITH AFM-IR AND SSNOM
Dr. Miriam Unger, Anasys Instruments / Bruker Nano Inc.

Everybody knows that "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom", so why not to use the room for chemical identification of a material?
With convetional methods, like FTIR or Raman spectroscope one can be limited with diffraction limit of the used radiation. In the nanoscale we can break these limits using various methods.
This lecture will be about IR spectroscopic methods using AFM probes, esp. about AFM-IR and sSNOM. Results from those methods one can combine with other material properties, like stiffness, adhesion, conductivity etc. to study the material in the complex way. There will be a lot of examples of the real applications (going from inorganic materials, thru organic polymers to live science) presented.
