6th Runaway Electron Meeting 2018

28 Jun 2018-30 Jun 2018

6th Runaway Electron Meeting 2018 will be held at the FJFI in cooperation with the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. This is a satellite workshop for the large conference on Plasma Physics of the European Physical Society, which takes place in Žofín in early July.

The conference topic will be the issue of runaway electrons in the plasma of tokamaks, an unwanted phenomenon in which part of the electrons will cease to be a part of the thermal distribution of plasma and will begin to accelerate with an electric field similar to that in the betatron. Because of the possible severe complications with the moving electrons in large tokamaks, this phenomenon is intentionally explored in smaller experiments, including the Czech tokamaks COMPASS and GOLEM.
