Free Science Communication Workshop

26 Mar 2015   17:00-18:30

We need to apply the science of communication to the communication of science

On behalf of the British Council, I would like to invite you to a FREE Communicating Science workshop which will help make you and your science more exciting and accessible to a wider public. ? The 2 x 90mins workshop consists of exercises and activities that deal primarily with the skills of ?being on your feet? in front of a live audience. ? We will look at three fundamental aspects of presenting:

Voice
As most of us do not use our voice well, we will look at how to improve pronunciation and projection.

Movement
Our body language often conveys messages contrary to what we want to say, especially in a second language. We will explore ways of 'opening up' and making our gestures bolder, subsequently making our message stronger.

Language
Scientific language is often dry and jargon-heavy, which usually alienates the listener. Employing more dramatic and persuasive language, we will discover how to hold the listener's attention longer.

March 19 (Z2:B1-353) and March 26 (Institut intermédií) from 17:00 to 18.30.
